Sample Itinerary

| Day 1: |
fly from the UK to Keflavik, collect 4WD rental vehicle and drive to Hotel Ranga through increasingly rural landscapes, which should take around 2½ to 3½ hours. Check in for a 3-night stay. |
| Day 2: |
explore the Thjorsadalur Valley visiting the Viking age farm of Stong and the foothills of the active volcano Mount Hekla. |
| Day 3: |
depending on the weather/road conditions drive to Thorsmork Valley set between three glaciers which spill out over the land providing a spectacular view. Alternatively visit the Westman Islands on a sight-seeing trip from the nearby airstrip (at additional cost). |
| Day 4: |
drive along the east coast to Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon (optional boat trip around £25) and Skaftafell National Park before checking into Hotel Skogar for a two night stay. |
| Day 5: |
visit magnificent Skogafoss, spend time at the fascinating museum nearby and enjoy a hike along a marked trail into the interior. In the afternoon take a snowmobile excursion (approx. £87). |
| Day 6: |
drive into the interior along an unpaved road to the Landmannalaugar (the road opens around the middle of June) hot spring area and enjoy a dip in a thermal river, before checking into Hotel Highland for a two night stay. |
| Day 7: |
enjoy the awe inspiring scenery and have a chance to relax before your return home the next day. Day 8 an afternoon flight from Keflavik to the UK is recommended on this trip as it will give you the opportunity to drive the ‘golden circle’ route on your way to the airport, briefly visiting Gullfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir. Alternatively, extend your stay and spend a night in Reykjavik or at the Blue Lagoon and return the following day – please call for a quote. |

Please note the highland roads normally open around mid to the end of June and remain open until October. Guests traveling before the roads open will have limited access to the highland area and any itinerary will be tailored accordingly. Driving outside official tracks is prohibited because of the potential damage to the environment. Driving through rivers is not covered by insurance.
