Highlands and Lowlands

Introduction

On this new south Iceland itinerary, you have the freedom to choose up to three exceptional hotels and tell us how many nights you’d like to stay at each. This flexibility allows you to explore the places that interest you the most – from the craggy yet beautiful highlands to the dramatic south shore full of classic sights.

Everyone who visits the south of Iceland cannot fail to be impressed by the wonderful landscapes and the iconic natural wonders liberally scattered across the region: glaciers spilling out over the land glinting in the sunlight; picture-postcard waterfalls and the awesome glacial lagoon at Jokulsarlon – to name but a few.

However, not everyone considers venturing into the highlands which, once you’ve seen what they have to offer, you’ll be glad you did! This is a stunning area where pure nature means pure enjoyment. With a 4WD vehicle, roads and inclines can be tackled with ease. Breathtaking scenery at every turn makes for plenty of photo stops and there are ample opportunities for walking, hiking, fishing and horse riding, and a number of other optional activities.

And what better way to end a day out in the fresh air – a rejuvenating soak in an outdoor hot tub – each of the hotels offered here have them. Please note this unique summer break is based on using a 4WD vehicle allowing you safe and comfortable access to the Highlands.

Please note the itinerary shown here should be used as a guideline only – you are free to change the number of nights at each location to suit your own interests, subject to availability. The final order of your overnight stays will be sent with your confirmation.
