| Itinerary |
| This is a basic itinerary - additional nights can be added at the Icehotel®, subject to availability, or in the capital, Stockholm. |
| |
|
| Day 1: |
fly UK to Kiruna direct and transfer to Jukkasjarvi. Check in at the ICEHOTEL for 3 nights (one in a Snow room) and have a guided tour. |
| Day
2: |
morning free to explore the scenic surrounds or take an optional excursion. Transfer at 22:30 to the Esrange Space Centre, the guide giving an introduction to the northern lights en route. After checking in, enjoy a presentation before stepping outside for a champagne toast at midnight, with luck under a brightly lit sky. Night sauna available on request. If you wish, you may leave your main luggage at the ICEHOTEL whilst at the Space Centre and just use an overnight bag. |
| Day 3: |
after breakfast take a tour of the Space Centre with the guide focusing on their research into the ozone layer and climate change. Return to the ICEHOTEL around 10:30 and have the rest of the day at leisure or enjoy an optional activity. In the evening a very special gentleman arrives by what other than a reindeer sleigh! After Santa has handed out presents to all the excited faces (children only!) everyone heads off to the nearby Homestead restaurant for a special Christmas Smorgasbord. This beautiful rustic timber restaurant is particularly homely with all its decorations, great food and friendly atmosphere. |
| Day 4: |
free to take optional excursions. In the evening there is a torchlight procession down to the picturesque little church at the end of town. Here you’ll listen to a very Christmassy concert and although it will be in Swedish, you may recognise some of the carols. After the concert, walk back to the ICEHOTEL restaurant and a traditional Swedish Christmas dinner. |
| Day 5: |
morning at leisure to take a few more treasured photos or perhaps try another optional excursion. Transfer to the airport at Kiruna and fly back to the UK. |
| |
| Note guests at the Icehotel will be provided with a one-piece thermal suit, mittens, hat and thermal waterproof boots for use during their stay at the ICEHOTEL. The exact order of the itinerary will be given at the time of confirming your booking. |
| |
| Transfers from Airport |
| The standard minibus airport transfer is included in the holiday cost. However, for something different try one of the options set out below. Luggage is transported by minibus, leaving you free to enjoy the unusual modes of transport to the full. The costs indicated are for a single journey.
