| Itinerary |
| Day 1: |
fly from UK to Keflavik and transfer to Reykjavik for the onward flight to Akureyri in the north of Iceland. There may be time between flights to explore Reykjavik. Luggage can be stored at Hotel Reykjavik Centrum or a small fee and taxis are at own expense. From Akureyri it is a 90-minute transfer to the lake. Check in at Hotel Myvatn for 5 nights. |
| Day 2: |
take a sightseeing tour of Lake Myvatn to enjoy some of its fantastic volcanic and geothermal features, including the bubbling mudpools of Namaskard, hissing steam vents and strange lava formations. |
| Days 3-5: |
free to enjoy a range of optional activities. |
| Day 6: |
visit the stunning waterfall Godafoss en route to Akureyri. Take the midday flight to Reykjavik and transfer to a hotel near the city centre and check in for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is free to explore Iceland’s colourful capital city. Optional but highly recommended afternoon excursion to the Blue Lagoon. As one of Iceland’s major attractions, this unusual geothermal bathing pool with warm, milky-blue water is set amidst jetblack lava and is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. |
| Day 7: |
transfer to Keflavik for return flight to the UK. |
