Optional Excursions [1/2] >>
|
At any time of year there are plenty of things to see and do in and around Myvatn. Some activities are available year round, while others (snow bound activities particularly) are seasonal and even then can be affected by the unpredictable weather. Generally speaking, however, the following is true. There is snow (at least in the higher areas) between October and April and the coldest period is between November and March, during which time the lake typically freezes. For the northern lights visit between late August and early April, while if it’s light nights that appeal, May to July brings virtually continuous daylight and, of course, milder temperatures.
Here we have shown what excursions are on offer and when. Should bad weather prevent an activity taking place, the hotel staff are never short of appealing alternatives and the Nature Baths is open for a geothermal dip throughout the year regardless of the weather.
(Excursions are to be booked and paid for locally – prices are per person unless otherwise stated - the price and duration shown for each excursion is a guideline only and this may vary due to local weather conditions)
