Itinerary [1/2] >>
14 Night Trip |
| Day 1: |
fly UK to Keflavik, collect rental vehicle and overnight at Hotel Cabin, see page 40 for details. |
| Day 2: |
travel to Snaefellsnes Peninsula and admire the rugged coastal scenery, bird cliffs and impressive snow-capped glacier. Overnight at Hotel Laugar or continue further east to Laugarbakki. |
| Days 3-6: |
travel east cutting inland to Akureyri. The next 4 nights are spent here or a little further on at Storutjarnir, depending on availability. From either, you’ll be ideally situated to explore the many attractions in the area, see pages 66-67 for ideas. |
| Days 7-8: |
travelling east, perhaps make a short detour to Dettifoss before continuing to Egilsstadir. Spend two nights here or on the coast at Neskaupstadur. There is much to see in this area of natural beauty, including Iceland’s easternmost point, Gerpir, just a few kilometers from the hotel. |
| Days 9: |
turning south and westwards along the coast, drive towards the fishing village of Hofn and overnight at Nesjaskoli. |
| Day 10-11: |

| Day 12: |
head inland for an overnight stay at Laugarvatn. Here in ‘Golden Circle’ territory almost on your doorstep are the hot springs of Geysir, two-tiered Gullfoss and Thingvellir National Park. |
