| Introduction |
If you like the idea of a self-drive holiday but want to do more, this two-week trip visiting a huge variety of Iceland’s amazing landscapes, could be the answer. Spend several nights in each of the best areas for hiking and take in all the national parks on a circular tour. |
During the trip, which can be comfortably driven in a standard vehicle, you’ll walk among the glaciers of Skaftafell National Park and the iceberg lagoon, the intensely colourful rhyolite mountains of Borgarfjordur Eystri, the Jokulsa Canyon National Park with its waterfalls and gorges, Lake Myvatn and its myriad volcanic features and the stunning coastal landscapes of Snaefellsnes National Park. On driving days, there’ll often be time for shorter hikes as well. A description of these and of all the suggested hiking routes will be given before departure in your detailed personal itinerary.
