Itinerary
Day 1:

fly from the UK to Keflavik. Transfer to Reykjavik and overnight at Hotel Cabin.

Day 2:

collect rental vehicle and drive to Snaefellsnes. Check in at Hotel Framnes for 2 nights.

Day 3:

explore Snaefellsnes Peninsula with its snow-capped volcano, lava flows, stunning coastline and amazing bird colonies.

Day 4:

head north to charming town of Akureyri on the shores of Eyjafjordur, for an overnight stay at Hotel Harpa/Nordurland. Optional Arctic Circle flight around £115, (daily except Saturdays from 10 June-20 August only).

Day 5:

visit beautiful Godafoss and then head for Myvatn and explore its strange volcanic features – perhaps take a dip in the Nature Baths, visit the Cow Shed café or hike at Dimmuborgir. Spend two nights at Hotel Reynihlid overlooking the lake.

Day 6:

drive to Asbyrgi Gorge, Jokulsa Canyon and Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall.

Day 7:

spend a leisurely day heading east crossing the highland desert and explore the beautiful east fjords. Check in at Hotel Aldan in Seydisfjordur for 2 nights.

Day 8:

another day travelling around this stunning area, with plenty of photo opportunities. Time to relax and enjoy the sights.

Day 9:

head south enjoying the fjord scenery. Overnight at Hotel Framtid.

Day 10:

continuing south, take an optional icecap and snowmobile tour (around £76) or enjoy a boat cruise (around £25) around the icebergs on the brilliant Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon. Be sure to cross over the road from the lagoon and take a look at the icebergs as they drift out to see or are washed ashore on the black sand beach. Take a scenic drive past the glaciers and spend two nights at Hotel Skaftafell.

Day 11:

explore Skaftafell National Park - wonderful views, glaciers and waterfalls including the stunning Svartifoss with its impressive basalt columns.

Day 12:

travel along the south coast past the cliffs of Dyrholaey, Skogarfoss and its Folk Museum, Seljalandsfoss and other amazing waterfalls. Two nights at Hotel Ork in Hveragerdi.

Day 13:

visit Gullfoss, the hot springs and geysers at Geysir and historic Skalholt church.

Day 14:

explore Thingvellir, the ancient assembly site, which is also known for its flora and geological features. Drive to Reykjavik, return rental vehicle and check into Hotel Cabin for the night.

Day 15:

transfer to Keflavik for return flight to UK.
