Iceland Connoisseur

Itinerary
Day 1: fly from the UK to Keflavik. Transfer to Hotel Odinsve for a two night stay.
Day 2: free to explore.
Day 3: collect your rental vehicle and head east, to Hveragerdi then drive to Geysir, home of spectacular spouting geysers and other hot springs. Gullfoss, Iceland’s two-tiered waterfall is nearby. Spend the next two nights at Hotel Ranga.
Day 4: see Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most wellknown waterfalls and continue to the Myrdalsjokull icecap - optional snowmobile trip. Visit the fascinating folk museum and 60 m high waterfall, Skogafoss. Explore the Reynisfjara pebble beach with caves and basalt formations. Take a look at the majestic bird cliffs at Dyrholaey and walk along the famous black sand beach (closed until 25th June so as not to disturb nesting birds).
Day 5: travel around Thingvellir and visit the ancient assembly site. Descend to Hvalfjordur on the coast. Walk to Iceland’s highest waterfall Glymur, at the head of the fjord and visit the fishing town of Akranes. Overnight at Hotel Hamar.
Day 6: see the sights of Borgarfjordur, which include the beautiful Hraunfossar falls, historic Reykholt and the island’s most productive hot spring, Deildatunguhver. Travel along the north shore of Snaefellsnes, to Stykkisholmur – optional bird watching cruise on Breidafjordur Bay (May to Aug) or take a whale watching trip (June to Sept). Discover fjords and fishing villages set among dramatic mountains. Check in for two nights at Hotel Budir.
Day 7: a day at leisure to perhaps walk through lava fields, stroll along the beautiful shoreline or take a drive around Snaefellsnes peninsula at the foot of the volcano and see the glacier. Take a walk by the coastal rock formations and bird cliffs of Arnarstapi.
Day 8: drive to the Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bathe. Continue to Keflavik, drop off the rental vehicle and take the flight back to the UK.
Note: Please note this itinerary is for London and Manchester passengers. Due to differences in flight schedules, a reverse itinerary operates for Glasgow passengers.
