Accommodation in Stockholm

Hotel Diplomat 4 STAR
Hotel DiplomatOriginally built in 1907, the Diplomat has been completely renovated, retaining its turn of the century charm and atmosphere. Located in central Stockholm, next to the shopping district and opposite Nybroviken Quay, the hotel offers outstanding service and quality. There are 128 individually decorated rooms, with private facilities, satellite TV, mini-bar and hair dryer. The hotels own restaurant, T/BAR is a great meeting place where guests can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere and good food.

Hotel Nordic Sea 4 STAR
Hotel Nordic SeaA member of the Design Hotels Group, this centrally located modern hotel with 367 rooms favours the clean lines and simple style typical of Scandinavian design. The atmosphere is relaxing and the rooms are comfortable and contemporary – standard rooms are spacious and offer private facilities, TV, mini-bar, tea and coffee making facilities, iron, hair dryer and internet connection. The C Bar has a giant aquarium of colourful tropical fish providing the focus but the most unique feature is the amazing ABSOLUT ICEBAR.

Hotel Rival 4 STAR
Hotel RivalStockholm’s first boutique hotel is a very stylish affair. The original building dates from the 1930’s but every aspect of the interior design has been meticulously updated. The rooms are classical rather than trendy, and comfortable rather than luxurious. There are 99 rooms of various categories but all are equipped with 32” plasma screens, DVD/CD players, wireless internet connection, safe and mini-bar. The hotel, part owned by Benny Andersson, formerly of ABBA, has a Bar & Bistro, Cocktail Bar, Honesty Bar, a café and a cinema.

THE ICE ROOMS & SUITES

The thought of sleeping on ice for some is an intriguing prospect - for others well, it leaves them rather ‘cold’. However, we’ve found that it is an experience more and more people are seeking and with an amazing choice of rooms, from the standard to spectacular design suites, it is sure to be a night to remember...

Our clients have had the chance to ‘sleep on ice’ for a number of years now and we are officially the world’s largest operator to Jukkasjarvi, the little town 200km north of the Arctic Circle where the phenomenon began. During the day, the ICEHOTEL is a living work of art, open to visitors until 7pm when it becomes an exclusive hotel open only, to private guests.

All ice beds consist of a large block of illuminated ice upon which sits a thick mattress, a layer of reindeer skins and a thick polar sleeping bag. It is the type of room and what is in it which sets the standard rooms apart from the suites. Our Icepack trips which include a night in an ice room are based on a standard double room in the shape of a traditional igloo with a bed as previously described and a curtain for privacy.

SUITES
are much larger than standard rooms and no two are ever alike. On the daytime tour, we can guarantee that each room you step into will be more striking than the last: walls are carved or adorned with all manner of snow and ice art; they are imaginatively lit creating all kinds of mood; they contain incredible ice sculptures and bed with a large ice frame which sets the unique theme for the room.

Ice Rooms
are created by the ICEHOTEL’s own team of technicians, people who have expertly crafted suites often in a number of previous constructions. These suites are a ‘step up’ from the standard double ice rooms and will have a variation on a theme.

Art Suites
are the most spacious and impressive of all. Specially commissioned and given life by international, awardwinning ice artists, these spectacular ‘top-of-the-range’ suites, with THE most amazing and very different themes, include a seating area and lockable ice doors - popular with honeymoon couples, as are the sleeping bags built for two!

THE WARM ROOMS

Although an overnight stay in an ice room is what most come here to experience, with outdoor temperatures often hitting the -30° C mark and the ICEHOTEL kept at a ‘balmy’ -5° C (!), it is essential to have somewhere to ‘come in from the cold.’ Fortunately, there are several warm room options on site and the facilities are excellent.

Most stays at the ICEHOTEL are a minimum of three nights with two spent in warm accommodation of your choice. However, if you’d prefer to spend your entire stay in a warm room, or have one as back up whilst on your ‘ice night’, do speak to our reservations team. It is not always possible to determine in advance which of your nights at the ICEHOTEL will be spent in warm accommodation – generally this will be confirmed with your booking. After a day out in the cold, crisp, air enjoying an excursion or two, head back to your warm room and perhaps take a sauna or a dip in the hot tub, two of the facilities which can be found on site.

Kaamos Rooms
These are similar to hotel rooms with several together in a block set in the scenic surrounds of the ICEHOTEL. Kaamos means ‘polar light’ and these rooms get plenty of it with the addition of large corner windows. They are spacious and furnished in a modern contemporary style, sleep two (mainly double with a limited number of twin beds) and have an en-suite bathroom with shower and WC.

Northern Lights Chalets
A very popular choice as these two bedroom wooden chalets (with a double & single bed) have skylights in the bedrooms, which create a feeling of ‘sleeping under the stars’. Hopefully the aurora borealis will put in an appearance on a clear night. These are built in a ‘log cabin’ style and also have en-suite bathrooms, a small lounge and kitchenette area.

Nordic Chalets
These delightful ‘light and bright’ wooden chalets have a homely feel with modern furnishings, two bedrooms (double and bunk beds) and an en-suite bathroom. They have a small lounge area with a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
