A must do for every diver visiting Iceland. If you are a certified diver, with or without a dry suit experience, this tour is for you! It will give you the opportunity to dive in one of the world’s most unique dive sites, Silfra, which situated in the National Park Thingvellir.
Silfra is a crack/fissure in the face of the earth between the Eurasian plate and the American plate, which are drifting apart about 4-6 cm average every year.
Silfra has a constant temperature of 1-3°C all year around and the glacial water is coming up from underneath the lava field after travelling for years underground. You can swim out the crack effortlessly because of a mild current pushing you.
Silfra offers open water diving, caving and deep diving, but the maximum depth is about 40 meters open water and 60 meters inside of a cave.
You will be accompanied by a PADI Dive master or PADI Instructor. The dive and the depth is dependant on the ability of the group. |
