Introduction

This trip is based in Winnipeg, in an elegant and very comfortable hotel in the centre of the city. Fly up to Churchill and spend a day out watching polar bears on the vast frozen terrain on the edge of town, in the comfort of a heated tundra vehicle. The vehicles are safe and warm - they have an outdoor rear viewing platform, from where the photographic opportunities are outstanding as the bears often come right up to the vehicle, standing on their hind legs. But mostly, they just ignore the vehicle and roll around in the snow or play-fight with one another – truly a memorable sight.

The holiday also includes time at leisure in Winnipeg, a delightful city on the banks of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers.

Stay at the Inn at the Forks hotel on the riverfront, for 2006 departures. This boutique-style property has a luxury spa and beautifully decorated rooms, some with fireplaces and soaker tubs.
