Say your vows in your very own ice chapel

What could be more romantic than saying your wedding vows in a unique chapel delicately carved out of ice from the Torne river in Sweden? Over the years, we have put together many tailor-made packages for couples wishing to be married or Blessed at the ICEHOTEL®. You can also enjoy a special ‘proposal’ trip, which includes a delicately carved ice box for the ring, full of rose petals! Tailor-made packages can be for the happy couple only, or we can personalise a trip for an entire wedding party, arranging private group activities as well as exclusive hire of the nearby romantic Homestead restaurant, or a private area in the ICEHOTEL® restaurant.

We work hand in hand with the ICEHOTEL® wedding co-ordinator and requests, no matter how extravagant, discrete or individual to the couple involved, are taken on board and where possible, subject to cost and feasibility, realised on your big day. For example, what could be more romantic than to arrive at your ice suite to find your name carved into an ice block, along with the words ‘Marry me’, to have a surprise gift presented at a particular moment or the delight of having friends and family travel out to Jukkasjarvi to share your special day.

Get married in a 15th century wooden church

For those of you who prefer to enjoy a wedding steeped in history, then why not get married at the wooden church in the pretty village of Jukkasjarvi itself. Parts of this delightful wooden church date back to 1608. This is one of the most picturesque places for a wedding in the world.

For all weddings held at the ICEHOTEL® typical wedding services are available – there are hairdressers in the nearby town of Kiruna, a wedding cake may be ordered, flowers and music are possible and of course, fantastic photographs recording the whole event. The ICEHOTEL® photographer took the incredible picture shown here - ‘the kiss’ - of clients of ours who married at the ICEHOTEL® in February 2005. James and Joanne Cochrane have kindly given permission for two of their photographs to be reproduced on this page. They have also supplied a quote, which we hope will encourage other couples to consider a truly ‘white’ wedding…

For the bride, the most important aspect for her wedding day has to be her dress. We are often asked advice but, as with any wedding, what you decide to wear is very much a personal choice. In the past, we’ve had brides in everything from full-on traditional gowns, to stylish thermal dresses, even white ski-suits with a veil. Clients often report that with so much adrenalin pumping on the day, as long as you have a short jacket or wrap for the ‘in-between’ times, a strapless number works just a well for the photographs – there is so much excitement involved that brides rarely notice the interior temperature of -5°C!!!

One thing however that we do strongly advise is taken into consideration is footwear. As snow and ice are practically everywhere, heels are definitely not a good idea and, as you may notice from the picture opposite, snow boots are the perfect choice - Joanne Cochrane kept toasty in her funky blue fluffy boots hidden under her spectacular wedding gown.

STANDARD WEDDING PACKAGES

Wedding packages prices start from £1148. This is in addition to the basic cost of the holiday for each person (flight to Sweden and accommodation in the Icehotel). This price includes return transfers to the Registrar in Kiruna to legalise paperwork; hire of the Ice Chapel; services of a priest and translator; Marriage certificate.
