The long hours of daylight that prevail in Greenland during the summer months, will allow you to maximise the time available to you. The icecap and the wildlife are the 'must see' highlights of Kangerlussuaq, but in a town that also boasts the world's northernmost internationally recognised golf course, other distractions can be found. Located at the head of a 160 km long fjord, Kangerlussuaq offers easy access to the inland icecap with the only road in Greenland that leads directly to it.
North of the Arctic Circle, Ilulissat in the acclaimed Disko Bay region is a modern Greenlandic town, where the husky is still very much a part of everyday life. As the town is situated next to the most productive glacier in the world, gigantic icebergs dot the nearby 40 km fjord. Trips out onto the fjord allow these impressive icebergs to be viewed at close range and in particular, on the late evening cruise the midnight sun provides some wonderful creative photo opportunities.
Flying from the UK via Copenhagen, you'll have the opportunity to explore these fascinating west coast towns at your own pace and through a choice of optional excursions – highly recommended is the trip to the Eqip glacier.
