For visitors the excitement lies in knowing that you will be travelling where conventional vehicles simply cannot go, as well as seeing the wilder side of the island. In winter, studded tyres give good traction on ice, while reduced air pressure in the tyres allows the vehicles to glide over deep snow, rather than sink into it. In the summer, the enormous tyres cope with the uneven terrain without a hitch and with the high clearance you’ll be surprised at what the vehicles can tackle!
Spend two full days exploring wild and out of the way places in these incredible vehicles and discover the remarkable and dramatic landscapes that make Iceland unique. You’ll also visit some of Iceland’s most famous sights, including the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and the amazing Blue Lagoon. At the end of each day return to Reykjavik, Iceland’s lively capital, where the evenings are free to relax and perhaps enjoy the nightlife or dine out at one of the city’s fine restaurants.
Each superjeep seats 4-7 people and often several vehicles will travel in convoy. The exact route taken each day will depend on the weather but wherever you go in the hands of these expert drivers, you can be sure of a thoroughly exciting, enjoyable and safe time.
Sometime during the weekend, it may be possible to try a ‘classic’ activity, at approximately £87 per person, per activity. Snowmobiling is year round but is dependant on weather and glacier conditions – two people share a machine and drivers must hold a valid licence. For those who wish to have sole use of a machine there is a £32 supplement. Dog sledging on the glacier is a summer activity and is again dependent on glacier conditions.
From September to March participants on the Superjeep Weekend Safari receive a 10% discount if booking the Northern Lights by Superjeep excursion. The cost is £71 per person (based on 2 sharing).
Please note the snowmobile trips and dog sledging are bookable locally or in advance prior to departure – as they are weather and snow condition dependent, the date of the excursions will then be determined by the superjeep driver/guide. |
