This flexible itinerary gives a taste of this incredible country and has been designed for those looking to combine a visit to Greenland with their Iceland holiday. The attractive town of Tasiilaq on the island of Ammassalik, has a population of around 1600. It is ringed by huge jagged peaks, some of the highest mountains in the country in fact and, with its typical and very colourful houses dotted all over the hillside, it is the centre for the region. If you'd like to know more about the rich heritage of this fascinating place, the Tasiilaq Museum is well worth a visit.
Several smaller settlements are scattered all over the district, amongst them Kulusuk, where the local Inuit population live from fishing and sealing, sometimes being away from home for a large part of the year. Here, more than anywhere else in Greenland, the traditional skills of carving have survived.
Hotel Kulusuk is on the eastern shore of the island and the stunning scenery and grandeur of Greenland are literally just outside the door! The hotel has a restaurant and bar and you’ll stay here in rooms with private facilities.
The delightful Hotel Ammassalik in Tasiilaq enjoys spectacular views over the ice-filled fjord and high mountains - it has its own lounge and bar – at this hotel you have a choice of rooms with or without private facilities. Both locations also offer a number of excellent hiking opportunities and various optional activities.
The packages shown below are for 2 nights in Kulusuk or 2 nights in Tasiilaq (or a combination). However you may spend additional nights in either destination, subject to flight schedules - please call our office for information.
There are a number of excursions available from both Kulusuk and Tasiilaq, which can be booked and paid for locally.
