Bjorkliden is also loved by cross-country skiers. There are numerous trails which cover open spaces, birch forests, places of historical interest and some even boast magnificent views over Lapporten. The more experienced skier might choose the Laktatjakko Mountain trail which is pretty challenging – 9km long with an 800m rise but the views and the sense of achievement are definitely worth the effort. Of course not all the trails are this strenuous and for anyone curious as to why cross-country skiing is so popular here, now is the time to try it!
