As the ski season here extends across several school holidays this is the ideal place to visit as a family. The nursery slopes can be enjoyed by children and novices alike and ski instruction is available, at additional cost, to encourage and support. Kids will love the junior size snowmobiles which they can drive themselves on a special track (for ages 5-12) and the ‘real deal’ are also there to add some adrenalinfuelled excursion opportunities for big kids! As you can see from the resort map opposite, there are several advanced slopes and off-piste areas and, even if you have brought the family, these can be enjoyed in the knowledge that there are safe and fun organised schemes in the resort that will keep the children and teens entertained.
We offer 3, 4 and 7-night options in a variety of accommodation and you can also combine a ski trip with a visit to the ICEHOTEL®. Ski passes and equipment hire can be arranged locally.
Slopes are open from early February to around mid May from 09:00 to 16:00.
Bjorkliden has a friendly and intimate atmosphere, ideal for families, couples or those of you who simply prefer to avoid busy ski resorts. The scenery is breathtaking and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids amused, as well a wide choice of slopes and excursions for the big kids amongst you! Ice climbing, ice fishing, cave tours, snow shoe hiking and cross-country skiing are just some of the extras you can enjoy here.
Transfer by bus from Kiruna through typical winter landscapes although the views at Bjorkliden are far from typical—actually, given the geography of the area, they are quite unique. From the resort as you look out over a glorious panoramic scene which is truly breathtaking, you’ll see an expansive frozen lake and the unmistakable ‘Lapporten gap’, and the mountain views behind are not so bad either! If you can tear yourself away from the slopes for a while this is certainly a place to swap ski poles for a camera.
