| Self Catering Accommodation |
| THE LAVA HOUSE (NORTH ICELAND) |
Decorated throughout in a modern Scandinavian style, this spacious, fully furnished family home sleeps up to 12 in 5 bedrooms (www.stadarhraun.com). But remember, when staying at the Lava House, it is on an exclusive use basis so if there are just two of you - you’ll have plenty of room to spread out!
The Lava House, or Stadahraun, has a fully equipped kitchen, a very large open-plan living and dining area and two bathrooms with shower/WC. There is a gas barbeque and two sets of golf clubs available for guests to use – the nearest golf club being just 16 miles away. To the front of the house is a garden with a children’s play area and plenty of parking space. To the back, which has an open area down to the river, a timber deck with a secluded hot tub provides a great place to end the day. And in fact, sitting neck deep in hot bubbling water whilst admiring the scenery, bathed in the wonderful golden light of the midnight sun, or under the surreal northern lights in the winter months, is an Icelandic habit you’ll find hard to break.
The house is surrounded by sweeping views across the Adaldalur Valley. This is truly one of the best-appointed self-catering houses in Iceland and is owned by Discover the World and used solely for our clients.

| NEARBY Iceland’s scenic north offers so much for visitors of all ages. Lake Myvatn is the magnet for most – the lake itself is beautiful and beyond that is a collection of curious volcanic and geothermal wonders including the Nature Baths. Husavik or Akureyri are the nearest large towns and both offer interesting days out. Jokulsa National Park, the Tjornes Peninsula, Asbyrgi and magnificent Dettifoss are just a few of the other places in the area well worth visiting, although some of these places are only accessible in the summer. |

| ERPSSTADIR ( WEST ICELAND) |
A traditional old style wooden cottage modernised to good standards, set on a hill with great views. Erpsstadir is a working farm with cows, sheep and horses so you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the wildlife!
The cottage sleeps up to 9 and has a double bedroom and two twin bedrooms (plus extra beds if needs be). There is a comfortable lounge and kitchen area, a washing machine in the bathroom and outside, a veranda with a seating area and hot tub.
| NEARBY being located at the top of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, this is a great base for getting out and about in this spectacular part of Iceland. Visit the snow-capped volcano and glacier which give the peninsula its name, stroll along sandy beaches, see bird cliffs, sea stacks and the rugged coastline around the tip of the peninsula or maybe even go whale or bird watching. Just north from here is the gateway to the remote and beguiling West Fjords, should you wish to explore further afield. |

| GLJUFUR (
SOUTH-WEST ICELAND) |
A complex of timber-framed properties, surrounded by open meadows, located about an hour’s drive from Reykjavik.
These wooden summerhouses sleep 6 in two bedrooms (double bed with a single bunk above) but additional sleeping space in the loft can be used to accommodate a further 2. Facilities include a kitchenette/lounge area, bathroom (shower/WC), TV, video and CD player with radio. There is also a large veranda with an outdoor hot tub, gas barbeque, table and chairs.
| NEARBY the Gljufur summerhouses are ideally situated for exploring the many sights of the south, by car and by foot including the natural wonders on the ‘ Golden Circle’ route, several stunning waterfalls, Mount Hekla and Dyrholaey. Horse riding is popular here too. The towns of Hveragerdi and Selfoss are close by therefore shopping for supplies or heading out to dinner is but a short hop. And of course with all that Reykjavik has to offer, a night out in the capital is also perfectly feasible. |
