| Stockholm, the ‘Venice of the north’ is built on 14 islands connected via a network of waterways and more than 50 bridges. It is a pleasant mix of traditional and modern, with fine restaurants, a wealth of culture and great shopping. |
The narrow cobbled streets of the old town ‘Gamla Stan’ contrast with the rest of the stylish city centre, which mixes big department stores and fashion boutiques with plenty of cafes, restaurants and a wide variety of nightlife. The official start of the festive season on the 13th of December is marked with street processions and ‘St Lucia Day’ celebrations. Christmas markets feature stalls selling all kinds of handicrafts and delicious homemade foods.
